In this episode, the Poo-philes go out... further out than many geeks would ever dare to go. They cross boundaries and forbidden zones. They traverse treacherous territories and desolate wastes. And then, when they've all but given up, they finally they cross the final frontier that divides Us from Them. Blinking in this strange new place, they look around and realise... they're out of the geek closet.
They're in a place called... Outland.
Shooting the Poo is pleased to welcome their second guest to the show--Mr John Richards, co-creator of Outland and stalwart member of the Boxcutters podcast collective. Outland is a comedy about a group of gay science fiction fans, and John's been working to bring it to the screen since 2005. Now, on the eve of the show's transmission on ABC1, he tells us exactly how he did it, why American comedy is different to the rest of the world, and rehearses his response to the hoped-for moral panic that should break out any day now.
So if you'd like to hear about an Australian comedy that's actually got jokes in it, ever wondered how disappointing a room full of dildoes can actually be, or what exactly could make Kirstyn almost fall off her chair, Episode Eleven of Shooting the Poo should do the trick.
The usual warnings about foul language and adult themes apply, but John does keep us in check somewhat.
Well, a bit.
Oh, and Outland's on February 8th at 9:30pm, ABC1. You can see the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSBZp2z0q9Q&feature=share
It's really quite good, y'know. Just sayin'.
Please go and tell Apple via iTunes that you love the show or provide us feedback here at shootingthepoo@gmail.com We would love to hear what you have to say.
